A soft seated ceremony and a juicy tablescape

As backyards and living rooms became the new stage for weddings in 2020, they made way to one of our favorite new and exciting alternative ceremony trends, soft ceremony seating.

I mean, just look at this image for example! Look at those slip into, snuggle up sofas, the cozy throws and pillows nestled throughout glowing with warmth as the sunlight pours in. As a guest, we couldn’t imagine a more comforting and subtly luxurious lounge ceremony experience. And as a bride, we couldn’t picture a better way to capture the essence of feeling right at home looking out at your family and friends.

This trend is all about the work from home lounge vibes we have become accustomed to this last year but with all of the dreamy ceremony feels we’ve been so desperately missing. And we are all for it!

As we started to see this ceremony style requested by our clients for this next year, we knew we had to test it out ourselves. So…

With Mylyn’s help came up with a concept,

invited a few friends along,

Ashley @alstonmaygerevents, Mylyn @mylynwoodphotography, Mani @copper_blossom_design, Ishwarya @thefreshhues, Cassy @ashwoodavenueshop, Summer @unionpine, Mikaela @kaebuffalowings, Tyler @josephtylersedlak, Shantel @shantillyartistry, and Amanda @shop.confete!

ran by Hey Day PDX for some donuts,

setup shop at the inspirational Union Pine event space,

blasted the Spice Girls for a good throw back, and got to work!

And the results….

Well, you tell us!

First, we started in the sunken living room where the large windows cast rays of sunlight across the cushions and the cane furniture sat contrasted against the refined dark wood floors and bold chevron backdrop.

Then all you need to do is add in a little romance,

some different textures, materials and patterns,

And each space just comes alive!

Mani of Copper Blossom Designs curated these fun floral statements including the most detailed elegant floral bouquet alternative we have ever seen!

Here comes the juiciest part….

Cassy from Ashwood Avenue Shop let us borrow these unique pillar candle holders and garland that made appearances in multiple places throughout the event, can you find them all?

Not only did Ashley from Alston Mayger Events help us coordinate the day, seamlessly I might add, but she also put together this delicious tablescape.

Ishwarya from The Fresh Hues curated all of the fun menus, name tags, and signage for the event. They do a lovely job of playing with not only the textures of their materials but the custom geometric shapes accentuate the modern boho vibes we were shooting for!

Shantel of Shantilly Artistry brought her makeup expertise and had Mikaela glowing!

And of course Mikaela is just killing it in this bridal jumpsuit that Amanda brought from Confete.

We have to give all of the photo credit to the amazing Mylyn of Mylyn Wood Photography. She captured this day like it was a pulled from a dream. You really need to check her out and all of our other talented friends that helped us put this trend to the test.
