Guest Blog: The Hive Catering talks deliciousness!

We’ve enjoyed delicious apps and entrees while doing a branding shoot with The Hive Catering, so we had to ask, what makes a gorgeous dinner table and how do you make your food both LOOK and TASTE so darn delicious? So, if you don’t have a caterer for your event yet, check out our friends at The Hive Catering.

Pinterest, wedding magazines, and styled shoots all give us grand ideas of beautifully set tables and decorative food stations – but a lot of DIY event planners can overlook some of the details that go into making these images that inspire us.

Most caterers will set platters, plates, and food stations in appealing ways, but adding in some additional floral or tabletop items can truly make it your own. We’re happy to recommend specialty rentals, florists, printing and hand lettering professionals who can provide those special details.

As caterers, we love working with clients who –

·      Provide floral or backdrops for their food stations

·      Rent specialty tables, chairs, tableware, and décor

·      Request or provide personalized items such as cocktail napkins and coffee cups

·      Make or commission custom menus and menu displays

Of course, this requires some extra budgeting for rentals and decor – but in the end you’ll have your dream wedding or event with incredible images from your photographer to remember forever.

If you aren’t going to hire a professional planner to help you realize the extent of your options, save a collection of your inspiration images and ask your local specialty rental companies, venue, caterer, and florist to make recommendations for you. A few thoughtful details can go a long way!

Cocktails And Apps
Cocktail hours are useful for buffering event timelines (say, during wedding party/family photos or staging changes). Almost every wedding we did in 2018 had a cocktail hour either at the start or between the ceremony and reception.

Signature drinks don’t have to be alcoholic, either. Whether you opt to add liquor for a signature cocktail or serve them up for a tasty refresher, they give a sense of panache served alongside stationed or passed appetizers.

Salad Course
Salads are an optimal way to utilize fresh, local produce. In the Willamette Valley, fresh greens are available year-round and summertime offers an incredible variety of delicious choices.

The Hive Catering Co. was born out of a passion for food sustainability and a life-long career as a fine-dining Chef. Farm-to-Table was the only direction our hearts would allow us to go. Our goal is to support small farms, so we build our menus to reflect seasonal, scratch-made offerings.
